Packing!

We fly to India tomorrow!

Our journey should take 26 hours, assuming things aren't complicated by the gigantic storm hitting the east (we're flying from Los Angeles to Houston to Frankfurt to Mumbai)-- which is the longest plane experience either of us will have had. We can only hope for complimentary alcohol to get us through it.

Yesterday we took the dogs on a hike while wearing our filled backpacks, and it was tough!

Hamish with backpack; you can see the dogs up ahead, feeling all speedy.

Today, we're trying to discard some of the stuff, pare things down to the bare essentials. Lauren is employing the rule of three: three shirts and three pairs of pants. Hamish is employing the rule of one: one shirt, one pair of pants, one tea flask, one raccoon puppet (he's been all over the world), one fountain pen. Considering the climate, we're not taking socks or jackets.

We have lots of laundry soap, in nice little sheets.

Travel essential. Two flavors. Mmm.

Travel essentials, according to Lauren's mom.

No malaria for us! Sucks for you, mosquitoes.

Lauren's ugly shoes. They are very ugly but very comfortable.

Stay tuned, and see you from India!
